We got together with a bunch of paddlers and rigged our double-hull boats with plywood and old doors to make them floating rafts. We then loaded on all the beer, floaties and people we could gather and went to join the Waikiki 4th of July Flotilla. It's a massive crowd that gathers just beyond the surfline in Waikiki. Yachts, rafts, surfboards, canoes, whatever. There was even a live band - with a dedicated go-go dancer.
We inflated our intertubes, grabbed a few beers, and floated to happiness. Perfect!
Back home by 7, we ordered a pizza and watched Sex and the City. And, is fitting with my amazing luck, as soon as I stepped in the shower the fireworks started. Oh well, next year.

I borrowed this shot of Flotilla from Flickr so you could get a sense of it. We have shots from a waterproof camera (we learned our lesson last year). When I have them, I'll post them. I have a feeling they'll be great!

Too bad about the fireworks - no place in the US does them like Hawaii. Next year..........??
