May 24th 2009

I danced the hula for Bryan, a Hawaiian tradition to honor life's greatest events and happiest occasions.

I danced Nani Venuse, a poetic story of love, and a beautiful song.

It was the most confident I ever felt dancing hula. Must be love.

Jenni Town

An excerpt from my conversation with Bryan last night:

Me: "If I was the mayor of a town I would pass an ordinance that outlaws all Christmas decor before Thanksgiving. Holiday lights are fine. Christmas trees are not. Light-up reindeer are not. Santas are not. Elves are not! I would hire a small team to cruise the town the weeks before Thanksgiving. They'd wear Scrooge outfits and hand out tickets to everyone who decorated for Christmas before Thanksgiving."

I have a thing about fairness. And I don't think it's fair to get a jump on Christmas, just to screw over Thanksgiving. Give Thanksgiving its own month, you can take Christmas into January if you need to, but don't start it before turkey day. Have respect!

We didn't get to talk about what Bryan would do if he was mayor of his own town. But I suspect he would booby-trap intersections to punish redlight runners.

They Say It's My Birthday

Wednesday was my birthday. I gave a present to myself and decided to take the day off work. I slept in, watched the entire Today Show, and then rented a stand up paddle board to play in the ocean, sort of like this (but of course that's not me).

In the evening I organized my friends to meet at my favorite pizza place for good times and good food. The pizza said happy birthday, and I celebrated totally in my own style.

I had an absolutely perfect birthday.

Another Happy Halloween

Did you know that I just live for Halloween? No? This and this and this didn't clue you in? I love Halloween. Bryan likes it a whole lot.

This year was one of our best. Doesn't Halloween on a Saturday rock? We spent the afternoon getting ready, had a fun dinner together, and then met friends at the best house party EVER! I was in awe of the creativity. Our friends went as smurfs.

Bryan was the Brawny Man.

I was a beehive. It was all in the hair.
