Stretching Out

The thing about moving to a place where you don't know ANYONE is that you really have work to meet people and find your place. And in doing that, I think you have to try just about everything. That's been one of the most rewarding parts of being here for me.

In SF I was very happy with my life. I had a routine, it made me happy and I felt fulfilled. That routine doesn't fly here. There's no way to replicate it and it wouldn't work. I tried some of the elements. I took the bus (totally over that), I did ceramics (no good), and as we all know you guys aren't hear to spend the rest of my time with!

That leaves me in a situation where I need to expand my comfort zone, open myself up to new people and new kinds of people. And just try it. So I did. Yesterday I tried salsa lessons in a garage taught by a girl I paddle with. It was awesome. It's exactly the sort of thing I love and something I probably wouldn't have encountered, or stretched myself to try in San Francisco.

Next up, traditional Hawaiian games this weekend. Some spear throwing, disc rolling and something or another. I'll try it.
