Jerk!

A very rude thief (or maybe even thieves) stole the front wheel of my bike while it was LOCKED to the bike rack outside my office. They actually cut through the cable lock (I always lock the wheel to the frame) and ran off with it.

I'd laugh about it if it wasn't such a major inconvenience. To actually go to the effort to steal a rusty wheel? Dumb.

Elements of major inconvenience:
- Now I have a bike with only one tire located downtown, far from any bike store. What am I suppose to do with it? Do I wheel it home on one tire and face ridicule from passerbys? Do I buy a front wheel from the bike store, carry it down here, attach it and ride it home? If so, how do I know what size wheel to get? Do I have to go out there with a tape measure and measure the remaining wheel? At that point, is it even worth doing? Should I just undo the lock and give my half-bike to city as a sacrifice to the bike gods? The bike is a piece of crap anyway. Might be cheaper to get a whole new bike than worry about replacing this one's wheel.
- I was trying to stick to my "bike not bus" new plan. It was intended to get me to exercise more, get fresh air and save my sanity from The Bus. Damn thief stole my exercise plan too!!

Only good thing to come of this is confirmation that I should NEVER leave my cushy seat on the bike. It has a quick release and is a really nice seat. I feel like a fool carrying it into work with me but you know that nice seat would have been gone in a second!

SUCKS!! That's something that should have happened in college... not now. Aren't we all too grown up to have our bikes vanadlized?
