How Expensive is Hawaii?

I remember a particularly delightful morning many years ago when I purchased a single banana in San Francisco's Chinatown for 12 cents. Granted, Chinatown is known for it's excellent bargains, and this said banana purchase was over five years ago so an equivalent banana in today's economy may be affected by inflation.

This morning I purchased a single banana for 37 cents! Also keep in mind that bananas grow EVERYWHERE in Hawaii.

If we follow the rules of this banana equation, it is 3.08 times more expensive to live in Hawaii than San Francisco's Chinatown.
