Last night I had my initiation to Genki Sushi. It's everything I normally would hate but somehow love in this combination. Maybe the way I love Taco Bell or Old Navy. Sort of hideous but they just do it right.
This is the Genki logo. It's an angry yellow sushi man. And I love it.
Genki is a sushi chain restuarant. It has a long conveyor belt running though the whole place and little plates of sushi cruise on by your table for picking. It's weird because the fish can just go around and around. So it's not really that fresh. But you sort of forget that while you're sitting there. Each of the plates has no more than four pieces of sushi on it and they're all color-coded by price (black being the most expensive and most tasty, red being the cheapest and not so tasty). It's a fully interactive meal experience. You must keep one eye on the belt at all times lest your favorite plate speed by without your notice. Typical conversation from last night included "Oh, grab that one!" "There go the hot dog rolls again." "Wow, a black plate, that's unusual!" "Get it! Get it! Get it!"
In short, a delightfully strange dinner experience. And filling, although not all that amazing. I will deifnitely visit again.
