We're right in the middle of an ENORMOUS storm. I know the entire country is pretty much under extreme weather but this is wild! It's been thundering and lightening for about an hour and the rain is just pounding our window. In fact, it's coming in the window. You heard me, I have managed to move into yet another apartment with leaking windows. I must be cursed.
Anyhow, as previously mentioned, it has rained every single day that we have been in Hawaii. It comes and goes. Sometimes just a light sprinkle producing a pretty rainbow. Sometimes a torrential rainfall that floods the streets and gets me incredibly soaked even though I have an umbrella.
Today was both a wonderful and trying day. Bryan and I met for a really fun lunch at a place called Indigo where I finally got to meet my Texan friend face to face. And on the way I discovered a tea house that has hats and feather boas you can wear while you drink your tea - FUN! The day took a turn for the worse when I waited 35 minutes for a bus that never came and consequently made me miss my paddling practice that I was really looking forward to. Although, I suppose it's possible it got rained out.
It's hard being in a new place because you don't know how things work. And you haven't discovered your comfort places. I miss Polk Street. The Bagel store. Starbucks on the corner. They have Starbucks here but only in Waikiki and downtown. We're making it work and I'm sure I'll soon discover my to-die-for sushi place or the comfortable corner coffee house. But it's hard right now.
The good news is that I got my camera back. Hooray! I spent about 5 minutes being a goofball and trying to capture the lightening for you. It's incredibly spectacular from our 12th floor view. Sorry no pic but take my word for it.
Happy anniversay to us and Hawaii! Yesterday marks one complete month of us on the island. Feels like it's only been two weeks. So here's to many more and with each one less rain and more comfort.
Aloha,
Jenni

Hey-
I know exactly how you feel. We've lived here before and been out here 3 months and it still doesn't feel like home. Where are our favoirte places??? We haven't found them yet. :-) I am shocked to say that I miss lots of things about Philly. But I too have confidence we'll find our nitch -just like you two will. :-)
Take care!
Janelle
