On Friday we met up with friends for oceanfront birthday drinks.
On Saturday many of the same friends came over for a rooftop Sumo tailgate. We all had tickets to the Grand Sumo Tournament and wanted to get together before the event. So up the roof we went.

And then off to Sumo we went. So spectacular. Just a wonderful, wonderful event. It's amazing how fun it is to watch a sport you know nothing about. And how enthusiastic we are over two very, very large men running into each other in silk diapers. But I kid you not, a fantastic event. We all loved it. I even checked the paper the next day to see who won the second day of wresting. I turned to Bryan and exclaimed, "Oh yay! Hakuho won the tournament! Cool!"

On Sunday I skipped out of our paddling regatta early to join Bryan for a nice hike. And then we went to a movie.
On Sunday we ran some errands and then met my brother and his girlfriend at the beach to wish him a happy birthday and celebrate in relaxed style. And we capped of the long, perfect weekend with margaritas and mexican food.
Thank you King Kamehameha. I needed your day.

I tried to tell my boss that I needed to celebrate the day as well, b/c we were married on Maui and had a special tie to the islands. But he didn't go for it... so I wore a hawaiian print dress instead Not the same, but it was festive nonetheless. Happy short week!
