So, I know, I was a total snot about having the fly to Maui. But I was being honest! Anyhow, it was an excellent trip. My co-workers are cool, my client treated us to drinks, an awesome dinner and a humongous breakfast (that's the best thing about hotel clients - they host everything), and we had super nature experiences:
This morning it was all dark, grey and stormy looking (and we were up at 5:30am). Just as the sun came over Haleakala it created the most dramatic, almost neon vertical rainbow. Like, I squealed when I saw it. And then our professional photographer took pictures of it. So someday that might be on a postcard - the rainbow I spotted first!
Well, after the rainbow started to fade as the sun came up, it made this glorious sort of starburst sort of thing with the clouds at the horizon - as if Jesus would walk on water or a booming voice of God would sound. It was awesome. And it was also photographed by our professional. As soon as I get those images I'm posting them so you can see what I'm talking about.
And no, it doesn't end there. THEN, we saw a turtle. Which is okay but not worth mentioning if right behind the turtle we hadn't seen a HUGE manta ray. And some sort of special manta ray that was grey and white like it had a beard. Christy, if you're reading this, I put to you the task of figuring out what sort of ray it was.
Truly, the best display of nature I have ever had at 6:45am. Lesson to be learned from this... don't sleep in when you're on vacation in Hawaii. Get your butt out of bed for the sunrise so you don't miss any of this!
