More of What I'll Miss

  • Pretty, cute birds.
  • Smells that remind me of Hilo.
  • Warm air. That perfect mid-year evening temperature when the air isn't cold, it isn't warm, it just is. And maybe there's the slightest breeze...
  • Manoa Valley.
  • Kids that call me Auntie.
  • The high, slow drawl of friendly local ladies, ending their statements with a question mark.
  • My tan.
  • The ease of weekend plans, BBQs, and meeting up with friends.
What else do you think I'll miss?

Sunglasses (or needing them year-round), humidity, being a 30 minute flight from a real 'exotic vacation' on a different island....

Seeing the ocean EVERY day:-) After being away for several years, my heart still aches a little when I flip across The Travel Channel and catch a familiar Hawaii locale.

Oh...but I'm thinking of the things you will loooove about your new adventure: reclaiming your winter wardrobe (sweaters and boots and scarves, oh my!), really, truly appreciating a sunny warm day (because there is something to contrast it), wine country very nearby, being able to take a road trip whenever you want, without having to catch a plane first, different fresh local produce, autumn leaves, real christmas tree, grown locally.... And I could go on...but I think I'm also trying to convince myself of the same adventure :-)
